Tucked away on Glassy Seas
This morning we woke up in Dollar Harbour off of Long Island to glassy calm seas. This was an overnight stop on the way to George Town, Exumas from Cat Island. It’s a cool little anchorage with yet another very shallow entrance. Explorer Charts show sand banks completely differently. All Visual Piloting getting in here. Shallowest water was 5.3′ at mid tide and falling. Once inside anchored in 10 to 15 feet.
The Active Captain image was close but the details of the sand bars inside the cut and the entrance were entirely different. Fortunately still passable for our 5′ draft.
Later today we go through Hog Cay Cut another very shallow pass between Islands. Chart shows 4′ at mean low water. Were going through this pass very close to high tide and with the tide rising just in case.
